Guide for authors submitting papers to
“Pamiętnik Biblioteki Kórnickiej”
I. General remarks
1. Texts in the Polish or English language should be files in a .doc or .rtf format and should be sent by e-mail to pamietnik@bk.pan.pl or via the tab Submissions on the journal’s website.
2. Papers should include a short (about 1,000 characters long) abstract in the English language.
3. 3-5 keywords in the English language should also be provided, as well as
4. a note about the author, including his/her full name, affiliation, e-mail address, and ORCID, and
5. a bibliography at the end of the paper (bibliography preparation guidelines are provided below).
6. Illustrative material shall be provided by the author of the paper, who shall complete the legal formalities related to their publications and shall incur all financial costs, if any.

1. Tables and diagrams:
– titles of tables should be placed above the tables, while the source (written in a 2 point smaller font) under the table. Example:

– titles of drawings, diagrams, and charts should be placed under the illustrative material, and their source should be specified below it (in a 2 point smaller font). Example:

2. Illustrations:
– drawings, photographs, photocopies and maps should be provided in the form of graphic files, and detailed information on their location should be given in the text,
– illustrations shall include information on their author’s full name, title of the work, year of origin, dimensions (for paintings or sculptures), their source, and, if applicable, the name of the institution that made them available or the place in which it is kept, as well as the full name of the author of the photograph,
– illustrative material shall be supplied by the author of the paper, who shall also complete the legal formalities related to the publication and cover all financial costs, if any.
Titles of artistic works shall be given in italics.

3. Other:
Names of institution: when used for the first time, give the full name of the institution together with the appropriately adopted abbreviation to be used further on in the text (e.g. National Library, further: NL).
Quotations: short quotations shall be marked only by quotation marks; longer ones (more than three lines) shall be graphically separated by an indent from the left and a two points smaller font.
Fragments of texts and terms in other languages shall be identified with italics, with the exception of terms permanently adopted by the English language, such as nota bene, vice versa, or à propos.
Titles:
– titles of non-serial publications and articles from periodicals shall be given in italics,
– titles of periodicals (e.g. “Komputer Świat”), and acts and governmental documents (e.g. “The Berne Convention”, “Act on Libraries”) shall be given in straight font, in quotation marks.
In the case of descriptions of works published outside Poland, the writing style standards of the language of the text apply to journal issues and years of publication (e.g. Bd., Iss., Vol.).

At the end of the paper, an alphabetically arranged bibliography shall be provided. Bibliographic description shall have the same form as for notes, only the description of each item shall begin with the author’s surname (or book title for collective works).
